FAQ – Totally Awesome 80’s Run

What is the Address of the Race?

The race will start and finish in front of the Radisson Hotel in Manchester located at 700 Elm Street. Participants should gather closer to the Pleasant Ave side of the hotel.

When does the Race Start?

The race will begin at 11am. The start is later than a typical 5K race because of the festivities planned for the 80’s themed after party.

When should I get my race bib and shirt?

There are 2 options for getting your “packet”:

1.       We suggest that locals attempt to come to the Pre-Race Day Packet Pick Up at Runners Alley on Saturday, April 20th from 10am-3pm. Runners Alley is located at 36 Hanover St in Manchester. Runners who pick up at Runners Alley are eligible for some in-store incentives.

2.       Race morning packet Pick Up is available for anyone who does not pick up their packet at Runners Alley. It will take place between 8:30-10:30am in the lobby outside of the Grand Ball Room. You can enter the hotel from the side entrance on Pleasant Street.

Will there be registration on race day and at packet pick up?

We anticipate that there will be a limited number of spots left. We will have printed race entry forms for runners waiting until race day or packet Pick Up to register. The fee will be $40. On-site registration will close at 10:25am so that we can get final info to the timing company. Shirts are not guaranteed to on site registrants.

Can my friends and/or family members come to the after-party?

We want family and friends to join in on the fun, however there is a $25 fee for non-runners. They will not be permitted to run or get a race shirt. But, they will be able to enjoy the after party including a live 80’s band, dancing, contests, and some light food. All non-running guests will get a wrist band.

Will there be Portable Bathrooms?

NO! However RELAX!!! There will be plenty of bathrooms available outside the registration area near the Grand Ball Room.  That is part of our room rental!

Will there be a Bag Check?

We will have a bag/jacket check available for your convenience at the “check-in” prior to the race. Please note that while we will secure items as best we can, we are not responsible for any loss or stolen items.

Where should I park?

There is metered parking nearby. But there is also a large parking garage attached to the hotel on the Granite Street side. The race participant fee for using the hotel parking garage will be $5 with proper validation. You must get your parking ticket validated at the 80’s After Party.

Do I need to wear my race bib?

The race is a professionally chip timed event by Granite State Racing Systems.  Each race bib has a preinstalled magnetic chip which works similarly to an Easy Pass. It is important to wear your race bib on front of your body with no articles of clothing covering it. This will ensure a proper finish time.

Is there a time limit?

Runners and walkers are encouraged to run or walk the course within a 1 hour time limit due to course closures and your safety. If you feel you need more time, please contact the race director prior to the race so we can address properly.

Do I need to wear a costume?

Costumes are not a requirement at all. However a little neon and hairspray can go a long way in making the event a bit more festive.

Will there be prizes awarded at the event?

We will have Awards for the top 3 male and female overall finishers presented after the run. There will be awards for the top runners in each age and gender category mailed.  There will also be awards for the “Best Team”, Best “Running Man Competition”, and Best Dressed (Male and Female).

What time is the After Party?

The After Party will officially begin at noon (band and food), but the room will be open immediately following the run to kick back, relax and grab a drink of water.  We will try to fit the awards in prior to the bands opening act. The band is scheduled to play 3 sets until about 2:45!

What food and drinks are available at the After Party?

There will be water stations and buffet style appetizers to enjoy by all! There will also be cash bars set up with soda, beer and wine!
